Google Review Removal for Gold Coast Businesses

On the Gold Coast, many of your customers are visitors who choose you from a map and a star rating. G-DEFENCE provides Google review removal for Gold Coast businesses where a review is fake, abusive or unlawful, and we serve the city remotely, with no local office.

Tourism changes how reviews work

The Gold Coast is one of Australia's best-known holiday destinations, and tourism shapes its economy. Hotels and holiday apartments, restaurants, tour operators, theme-park-adjacent businesses, beauty salons and gyms all compete for people who arrive with no local knowledge and leave within days. For those customers, a Google rating is often the only information they have.

That creates review problems that inner-city businesses see less often:

  • Wrong-business reviews. Visitors confuse similarly named venues or apartments in the same tower, and post a review on the wrong listing.
  • One-visit, no-return reviewers. A guest leaves, posts a scathing review, and cannot be reached to resolve it. That does not make the review removable, but it changes how you should reply.
  • Competitor and booking-platform crossfire. In crowded strips, a run of one-star reviews from accounts with no history can coincide with a rival's promotion.
  • Review bombing. A viral social post about a dispute can bring reviews from people across the country who were never on the Coast.

Our pages for hotels, restaurants and beauty salons go into sector-specific detail, and our guide to review bombing covers the pile-on scenario.

What Google will and will not remove

A guest who found the room tired or the pool crowded has given an honest opinion, and Google will not remove it because it is negative. Google will consider removing reviews that break its content policy: fake engagement, off-topic content, conflicts of interest, harassment, hate speech and personal information among them. A review placed on the wrong business is off-topic for your listing, and evidence that you have no record of the guest helps. Our guide to the Google review policy sets out the categories.

Queensland law on the Gold Coast

The Gold Coast is covered by Queensland law, so the position is the same as in Brisbane. The Defamation Act 2005 (Qld) includes the Stage 1 reforms from 1 July 2021, with the serious harm element, mandatory concerns notices and the single publication rule. Queensland's Stage 2 digital intermediary reforms commenced in December 2025.

Hotel groups and restaurant companies generally cannot sue for defamation, because corporations can only do so if they are "excluded corporations": not-for-profits, or businesses with fewer than 10 employees not related to another corporation. Smaller family-run operators may qualify but must show serious financial loss. Fake reviews may also amount to misleading conduct under the Australian Consumer Law, which the Queensland Office of Fair Trading administers in the state alongside the ACCC. Neither regulator removes Google reviews.

Working with us

G-DEFENCE has no Gold Coast office or staff. Like the rest of Queensland, the Gold Coast does not observe daylight saving, so it is nine or ten hours ahead of the United Kingdom, and an hour behind northern New South Wales towns just across the border in summer. Email and the assessment form work best, and we reply to assessment requests within 24 hours. For larger volumes, such as a hotel with several unlawful reviews, per-review rates step down; see pricing. You pay only for reviews that are removed.

If a Gold Coast review looks fake, was posted on the wrong listing or makes false allegations, send it for a free assessment and we will tell you whether it has a realistic basis for removal.

Frequently asked questions

A guest reviewed our apartment, but they stayed in a different building. What can we do?

A review describing another property is off-topic for your listing. Gather evidence that you have no booking under their name or dates, reply politely noting you cannot find their stay, and send it for assessment.

We operate near the NSW border. Which state’s law applies?

It depends on where the material was published and where the harm occurred, and the two states' Acts are now closely aligned. For any legal claim, ask a lawyer. Google's policy complaints are unaffected by the border.

Can we ask happy guests for reviews to offset a fake one?

Yes, provided you ask all guests rather than only the ones you expect to be positive, and do not offer incentives conditional on a good review. Selective solicitation can mislead consumers under ACCC guidance.

Do schoolies or event weeks cause review problems?

Busy event periods often bring more disputes and more emotional reviews. Most are genuine opinions, but abusive or threatening content, or reviews from people who were not customers, can be challenged.

Do you charge for reviews Google refuses to remove?

No. You are invoiced only after a review is removed, and the initial assessment is free.
