Google Review Removal in Newcastle and the Hunter
Newcastle and the Hunter combine a regional city's tight-knit customer base with a large trades and services sector, so one false review can travel. G-DEFENCE offers Google review removal for Newcastle businesses where a review is fake or unlawful, delivered remotely through Google's official channels.

A regional economy with big-city competition
Newcastle is the main city of the Hunter region, with an economy that has broadened from its industrial and port roots into health, education, construction and services. The Hunter Valley wine region brings a steady flow of visitors to cellar doors, restaurants and accommodation. The result is a mix of review-heavy businesses: tradies and builders, car dealerships and mechanics, medical and allied health practices, and hospitality and tourism operators.
In a regional market, many customers know someone who knows the owner, and disputes can become personal. We often see reviews from people connected to a business through a past job, a falling-out or a family dispute rather than as a customer. Our pages for tradies, car dealerships and hotels explain the patterns in those sectors.
Telling a fake review from a bad one
Before anything else, we look at whether a review reflects a real customer's experience. A homeowner unhappy that a job ran late, or a buyer who felt pressured on a car yard, is giving an opinion that Google will normally keep up. That is lawful criticism, and we will tell you so rather than charge for a hopeless complaint. The reviews worth challenging tend to show signs such as:
- no matching job, sale or booking in your records;
- a reviewer connected to a competitor, former employee or someone in a personal dispute with the owner;
- a factual allegation, such as unlicensed work or a crime, that is untrue;
- several reviews from new accounts arriving within a short window.
Our guide to identifying fake competitor reviews goes through the warning signs, and what to gather as evidence explains how to document them.
New South Wales law applies
Newcastle sits under the same law as Sydney: the Defamation Act 2005 (NSW). The Stage 1 reforms commenced on 1 July 2021, so anyone suing must show serious harm and first serve a concerns notice, and the single publication rule governs online material. NSW's Stage 2 amendments on digital intermediaries commenced on 1 July 2024.
For a family building company or a dealership, the critical rule is that most corporations cannot sue for defamation. Only an "excluded corporation", a not-for-profit or a business with fewer than 10 employees not related to another corporation, may, and it must show serious financial loss. A sole trader named in a review is in a different position from a company. NSW Fair Trading handles consumer complaints and licensing for many trades and administers the Australian Consumer Law with the ACCC, but it does not remove Google reviews.
How we work with Hunter businesses
G-DEFENCE has no Newcastle office or staff; we serve the whole country remotely. Newcastle keeps Sydney time, nine to eleven hours ahead of the United Kingdom depending on the season, so email or the assessment form is the easiest way to reach us. We reply to assessment requests within 24 hours. We then prepare and lodge complaints for the reviews that have a realistic basis, and invoice only when a review is removed. Rates are on our pricing page.
If a Newcastle or Hunter review looks fake or makes false claims about your business, send it for a free assessment.

Frequently asked questions
A customer complained to NSW Fair Trading and also left a review. Can the review be removed while the complaint is open?
An open complaint does not by itself make a review removable. If the review reflects their genuine experience, it is likely to stay. Resolve the underlying complaint and respond calmly in public; if the dispute is settled, the customer may choose to update their review.
Someone reviewed my building business saying I am unlicensed, which is false. Is that worth challenging?
A false factual allegation like that is a stronger candidate than an opinion. Evidence of your current licence helps. Whether it is removable depends on the review's wording and Google's assessment.
Do you cover Maitland, Cessnock and Port Stephens?
Yes. We work remotely, so we serve businesses throughout the Hunter and the rest of Australia the same way.
An ex-employee left a review posing as a customer. What should I do?
Do not name or accuse them publicly in a reply. Reviews from former staff can breach Google's conflict-of-interest rules. Keep any evidence linking the account to the person and request an assessment.
